Recomendaciones DVA
✅ 1. Infórmate sobre tus derechos
En Colombia, la Ley 1733 de 2014 y la Resolución 2665 de 2018 reconocen y regulan el derecho de toda persona mayor de edad a dejar por escrito sus decisiones en salud. Esto incluye aceptar o rechazar tratamientos médicos, solicitar cuidados paliativos y designar un representante.
✅ 2. Reflexiona sobre lo que es importante para ti
Antes de redactar la VA, piensa en tus valores, creencias y calidad de vida deseada:
¿Prefieres priorizar la prolongación de la vida o el confort?
¿Qué significaría para ti mantener la dignidad en etapas avanzadas de enfermedad?
¿Deseas acompañamiento espiritual en el proceso?
✅ 3. Habla con tu familia y médico
La comunicación es clave:
Informa a tus seres queridos sobre tus decisiones.
Conversa con tu médico de cabecera o especialista para entender las implicaciones de cada opción.
Recuerda que un documento claro evita conflictos y da tranquilidad a la familia.
✅ 4. Redáctalo de manera clara
Incluye aspectos concretos como:
Reanimación cardiopulmonar.
Ventilación mecánica (respirador).
Alimentación artificial.
Manejo del dolor y cuidados paliativos.
Hospitalizaciones futuras.
Designación de un representante.
✅ 5. Registra tu Voluntad Anticipada
Puedes hacerlo en notaría o mediante acta de conciliación extrajudicial.
También puedes dejarlo por escrito con firma y testigos, lo cual tiene validez legal.
Guarda copias y entrégalas a tu familia y médicos tratantes.
✅ 6. Revísalo y actualízalo
Tus decisiones pueden cambiar con el tiempo. Puedes modificar tu VA cuantas veces quieras, siempre que estés en pleno uso de tus facultades.

Estas preguntas sirven como guía para que paciente y familia reflexionen y tomen decisiones informadas:
Sobre reanimación cardiopulmonar (RCP):
“Si su corazón deja de latir, ¿quisiera que intenten reanimarla con maniobras avanzadas (descargas eléctricas, intubación)?”
Sobre ventilación mecánica (respirador):
“En caso de insuficiencia respiratoria grave, ¿desearía que la conectaran a una máquina para respirar, incluso si la recuperación es incierta?”
Sobre alimentación artificial:
“Si pierde la capacidad de tragar, ¿aceptaría alimentación por sonda o procedimientos quirúrgicos para mantenerla con vida?”
Sobre hospitalizaciones futuras:
“¿Prefiere ser atendida en casa con cuidados paliativos, o desea hospitalizaciones y procedimientos médicos intensivos?”
Sobre manejo del dolor y confort:
“¿Desea que se priorice siempre el alivio del dolor y la sedación, incluso si eso acorta el tiempo de vida?”
Sobre representante designado:
“¿Hay alguien de su confianza que quisiera nombrar para que, llegado el momento, represente sus deseos frente a los médicos?”
Sobre aspectos espirituales y valores:
“¿Desea asistencia religiosa o espiritual en el proceso de fin de vida?”
